Sharon has always been interested in watching how show dog handlers “show dogs”. From the very best of the Professional Handlers to the very best of the owner/handlers who make up the majority of those showing dogs.
The mark of an excellent handler is the ability to take a dog from its owner and then in a very short time present that dog in the show ring looking like the partnership has been in place for years. The connection comes when the handler reassures the dog that he/she can do these tasks in a firm but non bullying way. Very few dogs will respond to being bullied into submission as they will become fearful or sullen and then the dog will not “shine” in the ring and the judge will find it easy to walk past and leave unplaced.
Sharon has handled dogs of her own and of clients to win over 600 CC’s and Championship Group wins with breeds from the Gundogs, Hounds and Working breeds. Not one “method” fits all dogs as every dog is different and therefore requires a different method of handling them to get the very best performance from them and this is where Sharon specialises in working out what works best. Since starting her personalised Show Dog Training Sharon has helped handlers fine tune their handling thereby gaining in overall confidence going on to win CC’s, RCC’s and numerous 1st prizes.
Sharon is now available to help show dog owners/exhibitors achieve their desired success and goals by offering help, advice and physical training sessions either by the hour or by the half or full day or via online learning modules or even a ringside mentoring session. Sharon organises handling day courses around the country where small groups can enjoy a whole day of learning. In addition she will do a home visit, or even work with your home-made videos – whichever way is easiest for the owner.
Sharon is also available to give talks and presentations to dog societies on an evening, half or full day basis. This can be built to whatever the societies requirements are whether a hands-on practical session with a small group, or even a demonstration and talk given to an audience or a mixed day.
With Sharon’s experience and professionalism she is also available as a professional handler – either on a full board, presentation, transport basis or a ringside pickup.
