In 1986 the breed was given Championship status and Bareve were the proud owners of the first UK Show Champion bitch Wittekind Eva Braun at Bareve.
Since then there have been over 50 UK Bareve owned/bred titleholders including 12 ‘Full’ Champions (qualified in the showring and in the field). The kennel has won over 300 UK CC’s and is the home of both the Male and Female Breed Record holders, the breeds only Championship Show Best in Show/Reserve Best in Show winners and is the only kennel in the UK with Championship Group winners.
Most importantly Bareve GWPs have proven themselves as successful working HPRs and can be found as Roughshooting, Falconry, Stalking and general working dogs. Bareve GWPs have also won numerous Working Test and Field Trial awards from Novice to Open standard.
The Bareve German Wirehaired Pointer kennel is owned by Sharon Pinkerton and is based in rural North Lincolnshire. For many years mother and daughter partnership Barbara and Sharon have produced top quality GWP. Sadly Barbara passed away in March 2014 but the Bareve kennel continues.
The Bareve GWPs where established in 1977 with the purchase of a GWP bitch from the Wittekind kennel of Mienicke Mills de Hoog.
At a very early age Sharon had seen a photo of a GWP in a book on dogs and vowed she would one day have one. It was with the importation of the breed into the UK in the late 1970’s that this was made possible and the rest as they say is history.
The early days of owning the breed was spent establishing it in the UK with other dedicated breed enthusiasts. A number of dogs where imported in the early years, a breed Club was formed and the potential of the breed as a truly dual purpose working gundog became recognised by the UK shooting scene.
The breed was also being exhibited in the show ring in Not Separately Classified classes.
